AFL Switzerland Season 2023, Round 2 in Lausanne

Another great day of footy in Lausanne for the Winterthur Lions as they solidify their lead on the ladder.

For round 2 on Saturday, the 3rd of June, the Lions travelled to Switzerland's most picturesque pitch, on the lake in Lausanne.

The Geneva Jets and the Zurich Giants kicked off the day in the Seniors with a competetive back and forth contest.

Final score: Geneva Jets 10.8 (68) def. Zurich Giants 7.5 (47)

The final Seniors match of the day saw the Geneva Jets take on the Winterthur Lions. The Lions went into this match-up full of confidence, but could never quite pull away from the Jets. Late in the game, the Jets dominated centre clearances and threatened to get very close on the scoreboard, but fell short by a couple of goals. The match up between the Geneva Jets reserves and the Basel Dragons rounded out the day. Lots of young, home-grown talent from both sides shone through. The Jets showed athleticism and skill to take the win and level the season tally at one win and one loss each.

A cracking day of footy was wrapped up with drinks in the lake. In the boat race, The Giants edged out the Jets for first place.
